Panasonic Automotive Systems, a global Tier 1 automotive supplier, has achieved a Bronze Medal in the sustainability assessment conducted by EcoVadis, an international organization headquartered in France that evaluates corporate sustainability. This recognition is granted to companies ranked within the top 35 percent of all organizations assessed.
EcoVadis evaluates the sustainability performance of more than 150,000 companies across 185 countries. Assessments cover four categories—Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement—and are scored on a 100-point scale based on 21 indicators across these themes. In this assessment cycle, Panasonic Automotive Systems received the Bronze Medal, placing the company within the top 35 percent overall.
Panasonic Automotive Systems has earned an EcoVadis Bronze Medal for sustainability performance across procurement, labor, ethics, and environment.
The automotive industry faces rising environmental, social, and governance (ESG) expectations due to its ecological footprint and complex global supply chains. In addition to environmental initiatives, companies are expected to address social responsibility issues, including human rights, working conditions, ethical sourcing of minerals, coexistence with local communities, and supply chain safety. Governance structures must support the implementation of these initiatives across group operations while strengthening risk management. ESG initiatives have become a key driver of long-term sustainability and competitiveness in the automotive sector.
In this assessment, Panasonic Automotive Systems’ efforts in the Sustainable Procurement category were highly recognized. The evaluation cited the company’s promotion of responsible procurement across its supply chain, including conflict mineral management and due diligence using the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT), as well as its systematic management of environmental and social considerations. Overall, the company’s policies, initiatives, and support for international standards were assessed as being extremely strong. Its efforts in the areas of Environment, Labor & Human Rights, and Sustainable Procurement were acknowledged as demonstrating a high level of execution and due diligence. Recognition against international standards marks a significant step toward achieving the company’s mission of “create a sustainable mobility society to promote a better life for everyone.”
The company stated that it will continue to strengthen its sustainability initiatives toward the realization of a sustainable mobility society. Hisayoshi Nakao, Director and Executive Officer in charge of ESG Promotion, Panasonic Automotive Systems Co., Ltd., said: “This assessment provided the company with a valuable opportunity to reassess its sustainability efforts from an international perspective. The company will use this assessment as a foundation to further improve its sustainability initiatives and aim to contribute to the industry’s sustainable development. To achieve this, it remains committed to accountability and transparency in its business practices through dialogue with a wide range of stakeholders, starting with shareholders and customers. By acting swiftly, fairly, and with integrity, the company aims to boost its corporate value further.”
