Planet Labs PBC has received a John Deere supplier sustainability award for 2025, recognizing the company’s role in supporting precision agriculture technologies through satellite data and geospatial solutions. The John Deere supplier sustainability award is presented to select suppliers globally that demonstrate strong performance in sustainable processes, products, or operations. Award selections are focused on three primary areas: greenhouse gas emissions reduction projects, product circularity, and social improvement priorities such as labor and human rights, ethics, and corporate citizenship.
John Deere created the supplier sustainability award in 2021 to promote sustainability across its supply base and recognize suppliers advancing innovation and measurable action. Planet employees accepted the recognition during formal ceremonies held April 16 in Moline, Illinois.

Satellite imagery and geospatial analysis are becoming increasingly important across industrial and agricultural sustainability applications. In precision agriculture, timely data can support more informed decisions related to field conditions, resource management, crop monitoring, and operational planning. For equipment manufacturers and agricultural technology providers, satellite-based data can also support broader sustainability goals by helping improve efficiency across farming operations. These capabilities align with growing demand for technologies that help industrial and agricultural users manage resources more effectively while supporting productivity and environmental performance.
The recognition from John Deere highlights the role of satellite data providers within the industrial sustainability supply chain. As agriculture, manufacturing, and infrastructure markets continue to adopt more data-driven tools, geospatial intelligence is expected to remain an important part of operational efficiency, resource management, and sustainability-focused technology development.
